Join the Team:

My name is Kenny Meteiver, and I’m running to serve you in the House of Delegates representing Virginia’s 37th District.

I was born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana. Growing up, I learned the value of hard work from my father, who worked in a factory. In school, I ran track and joined Team USA, running and representing our country overseas at meets across Europe.

When terrorists attacked our nation on September 11, 2001, I knew what I had to do. I enlisted in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer, packed my bags, and headed to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. In basic combat training, the Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage were instilled into my everyday living.

After finishing Combat Engineer school, I was flown to South Korea and stationed right on the De-militarized Zone at the border with North Korea.

Through our transnational partnership program with South Korea, I met the amazing and beautiful woman I would one day marry, Hye-Won.

In 2004, my unit was deployed from South Korea to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While there, I had the opportunity to assist the Iraqi people in taking part in their first free election. I will never forget the hope I saw in the eyes of hundreds of citizens as they had the chance to participate in a real election for the first time in their lives.

After I left the Army in 2007, we returned to Indiana. Then, in 2012, my wife and I went back to South Korea to teach English for a couple of years.

Coming back to the United States in 2014, we chose to settle our family and plant our roots here in Centreville, Virginia. There aren’t too many places where you can live, that within 30 minutes you can be in the great outdoors with millions of stars overhead and 30 minutes the other direction you are in the capital of the United States. The diversity and experiences offered here made this the perfect place to raise our three children. We are rooted and grounded in our community, church, and school system.

Sadly, the Virginia we see today is nowhere near what this Commonwealth once was. We have seen skyrocketing debt, burdensome government actions and regulations, and so much more. Under Richmond Democrats, Virginia is not thriving. Families are moving away, businesses are closing, and things feel more divided than ever.

We can do better. I’m running to make sure the future of our Commonwealth is bright and full of opportunity for all of our citizens. I want to roll back burdensome regulations and make our communities safer. I want to work across the aisle on common-sense issues that unite Virginians.

In my life, I have always been proud to serve; I ran for our country on Team USA, I helped spread the promise of democracy abroad, and now, I’m running to be your voice for our future. I look forward to meeting you and earning your vote.
